MY WORK MOTTO - Basically, my attitude toward this line of work is that I am here to keep the strain on your babies to a minimum while you are away so that they experience the least amount of stress as possible. I tend to focus on the well-being of your fur-kid, rather than just tending to the bare minimum to get them by while you're away. I will aim, within reason, to keep their daily routine as close to normal as possible. They're already in their own home which helps with the distress they may feel but having someone who understands they may need a few extra cuddles or T.L.C to help allay their worries will also help. So please, don't be afraid to let me know details about their personality or routine that will help keep them settled. This is part of the meet and greet that I enjoy too - getting to see how your fur babies interact with you, and I must say out of all the pet parents I've met, I'm glad to have seen sensationally close bonds between all pet parents and fur babies. It's lovely to see that I'm not the only one who spoils my fur babies.
FLEXIBILITY - I thought it might be a good idea to tell you a bit about my daily routine in this line of work so that you gain a slightly better understanding of what happens from my end. During peak periods, in the middle of holiday season I can be running from one job to the next. This is where I will try to fit your visit in with a time that suits when your usual routine is or perhaps there may be another factor that I prioritize, for eg. coming during the heat of the day to provide some relief. But keep in mind I do also need to work around other things throughout the day and so my visits need to be flexible, but please rest assured that I will do my best to provide the best for your babies.
SANITIZING - Because I may be running from one booking to the next, I am also keenly aware of the safety of all animals, so I have a sanitizing routine I go through before coming to the next job. I have a variety of methods including sanitizing my clothes to keep any bugs at bay. As a pet parent myself, I am concerned with health of your babies and also mine. Pet Kennels ask for particular things to keep the health of animals in mind and this is my own personal way that I can contribute to this particular aspect.
PET PSYCHOLOGY - As I mentioned before I focus more on the emotional well-being of your fur-kid. With that in mind I have spent the last couple of years studying up on pet psychology and learning more so that I can better communicate to you, and better tend to the needs of your little buddy. I have tended to focus more on cats in this regard, mainly because so little is known about cat behaviours, whereas there tends to be more readily available information on dogs - not that I'm leaving them out of the equation by any means! I just found that I get asked a lot more behavioual questions from cat pet parents. I work hard at forming a bond with them, so they don't worry so much when you're away and they become comfortable with me - I like to build a bond where I become fur-aunty.
UPDATES - Part of my job through Pawshake is regular updates. I will send through pics and text updates each day. There are 2 main reasons for this. I know what it's like to be away and be wondering how they're going - I can't relax! So it's nice to know how they're going for your peace of mind and if there are any issues. Also it's a good way for you to know that I am actually turning up for the job. Someone who doesn't communicate regularly can leave you wondering, and it's only when you get home that you see the results.
SECURITY - In regards to security I can provide a police check reference number upon request, and I will also do my best to maintain the security of your home too. There are a number things I can do in this regard and most of them are details you might not think of, for eg, if your mailbox is getting that 'no one's home' look...I will bring in your mail and try to keep your home looking like someone's keeping an eye on it. I don't have any form of advertising when I come to watch your fur-kids - in case someone 'not so great' is looking on - as this would make it stand out like a beacon that no one is home.
VALUE - if you're happy with my work, then please leave a review and pass my profile on to others. Please keep in mind that my prices are per VISIT. The vast majority of my bookings have required me to look after multiple animals all in the one visit, and that means that the time I spend at a booking will vary from house to house. The prices charged are for the VISIT and not per animal, so with the prices being charged you are receiving sensational value!
FUEL CHARGE - You may be looking at the price I charge and be wondering what's involved in my costs. Good thing you asked! I have the obvious cost of fuel costs to your home and back, so my prices are for Rockhampton residents only. Residents on the outskirts will incur an additional fuel cost, but don't worry it's not too much - thankfully my car is not a huge fuel guzzler.
FEES - I also have to cover the cost of fees to Pawshake (which includes the insurance). I feel that what they charge is fair as they are the ones who act as a third party getting you in touch with me. I have previously worked with website marketing and I know how difficult it can be and how much skill you need in order to get customers coming to your website, so I take my hat off to them for doing such a great job and am happy to cover that fee.
PAYMENT - Pawshake also has an excellent idea in that they act as a third party in the exchanging of finances between you and me. They ask you to pay upfront but I don't receive that money until after the job is done. That way, I know the money is coming and you know that I don't get paid until I have actually done the job. It creates a safe environment for all.
I know this has probably been a lot to read but I hope that now you feel a little better about my values as a person and pet parent, and I thank you for taking the time to read it all. I hope to hear from you soon when you make a booking and look forward to meeting you and your fur babies at the meet and greet.
