About Alyssa
Hi there :)
I have grown up with various pets from little hamsters to large dogs and can empathise with the anxiety of leaving these family members behind but I will always strive to provide compassionate care and lots of cuddles so your pets are as comfortable and happy as possible.
I turned my love of animals into my career and have accumulated 2 years of professional experience and 4 years of voluntary experience in anatomy care.
I have worked in kennels and catteries, providing daily care to 40-80 dogs and up to 30 cats of varying breeds and temperaments. My responsibilities included cleaning kennels and cat pens, ensuring all animals had water and were fed their specified diets, exercising animals, administering any medications, and monitoring behaviour and condition. I have excellent time management skills and can multitask effectively while keeping the well-being of all animals at the forefront of everything I do.
I have experience in the emergency department of a veterinary hospital where I became well acquainted medical emergencies in animals. I can swiftly identify signs and behaviour that indicate the need for veterinary attention and provide first aid if needed. I am comfortable handling medications and bandaging wounds, and can recognise abnormal temperature, pulse and breathing rate.
I have also worked on a farm and at a stable yard. I do not shy away from hard work and enjoy being active and outdoors regardless of the weather.
I studied Zoology at university where my love for animals developed into a passion for conservation. While my long term career goals involve contributing to the conservation of wildlife, I still love caring for the animals who provide us with companionship.
I am currently very flexible and will more then likely be able to work around what you and your pet(s) need. Please feel free to include any other question you may have in your enquiry!
