About Kristy
I am an animal lover and have two dogs of my own and had a 15 year old cat that has recently passed over the rainbow bridge. I am a foster carer as well a volunteer Pound Coordinator and volunteer IT Manager for the non-profit organisation Hunter Animal Rescue. I have been involved with animal rescue for over 8 years now and have rehomed many animals in that time. I have a large backyard and two cat enclosures if you are seeking away from home care. I am a responsible, trustworthy person if in-home care is required.
I have always been an animal lover since I was quite young to now. I can't really say if I am a dog person or a cat person. I guess I just love them both. It has been challenging sometimes with the amount of animals I have had in care. Some very shy pets that needed a little extra tlc, and some sick cats that have required in-home medical care. I have enjoyed having them all and learning new skills such as in-home veterinary care and basic dog training.
I ensure for all animals to feel safe and happy in my home environment. For the cats, I have two large play catteries in the backyard where the cats can get some exercise and experience the outdoors in a safe way. For the dogs, I have a large backyard for the dogs to exercise and to play ball. For those pet owners that require in-home pet care, I let the pet tell me what they want, with limits of course. I live with only my brother and two fur babies. My beloved Pomeranian Peppy, and a Jack Russell x Foxy named Staria. Both a sociable dogs and are use to different animals coming and going, and they are great with the cats.
I am a uni student that studies from home. I also do some IT work from home, so I am there all day. If I am required to leave the house for a lengthy period at all, my father comes to mind the animals. The dogs are mostly indoors, but we have play time a few times a day out the back yard. However, the dogs can come and go as they please through the custom built doggy door. The cats stay in the enclosure, but I visit them regularly during the day.
The yard is secure with 6m high fences and a padlock on the gate. The cat enclosures have security bolts, and one enclosure has a secured walk in section for those cats that want to run as soon as a door is open, which prevents them getting away.
