Hi there! I'm Alex, a fellow animal lover. I'm 29, live with my partner, our two dogs (a rescue Husky mix and a Doberman - Gordito and Bazooka), hermit crabs, fish and stick insects. I've loved animals since I can remember, and I've lived with animals all my life (a variety of dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, goats and horses). A few things I love: doggy snuggles, rock climbing, going to the gym, reading and brunch dates.

I work for myself from home as a designer, so I have lots of freedom and flexibility in my schedule. However, before I went into design, I studied my Certificate II in Animal Studies, and also spent a year interning as an assistant nurse at a vet clinic. Plus, since May 2023, I've been volunteering at the AWL shelter in Coombabah. I work on the dog team each Friday morning between 8-12. My responsibilities are walking the dogs, cleaning their pens, feeding, providing enrichment, playing, and handling. As rescues, many of these beautiful dogs are either boisterous, reactive, untrained/don't walk well on the lead, nervous or anxious. I am highly attuned to dog behaviour after a year and a half of interacting with these dogs every week. It's such rewarding work to help care for them and rehabilitate them before they find their forever home.

I handle dogs from 8 week old tiny puppies to 60kg Rotties with calm, care and confidence. I love giving these dogs the time and attention they need to feel safe with me.

I also have experience with senior dogs, pets who have limited use of their back legs, incontinent pets, diabetic pets, human/dog/vehicle reactive dogs and pets who require medication (injections, tablets and creams).

I'd love nothing more than to help your precious pet by checking in on them throughout the day, providing a play session, food, enrichment and snuggles, and taking them on regular walks. I have access to my own car and full availability apart from my volunteer shelter shift on Fridays 8-12. I'd love to hear from you - let's arrange a meet and greet! 🐾
