My name is Madz and I'm 32 yo. I work from home full time and love animals. I have house sat for numerous friends and family over the years - Cats, Dogs, Birds, Rats, Horses. I love animals. Big, or small. Energetic, or snoozy. Super hairy, or hairless.
My Animal History
I grew up in a cat loving family. Over the years we owned a total four cats over approx. 20yrs (at most, we had three at one time). Most of my family still own cats and I frequently look after my furry nieces/nephews when my siblings go on holidays.I've owned a dog. In 2017 I adopted an 8yo ex-race Greyhound named Meg. She was a 30kg reactive dog - she would snarl and lunge at almost any other animal in existence. She was sweet and adored people. She passed away of old age in 2022 - She lived to be 13yo!I've owned pet rats! Now for the average person this is an odd one. For any rat owners out there, I adore them. I've had two girls named Raz and Phee and they both lived to approx. 2 yo. I love playing with them and (if the little fuzzballs are up to it) a little cuddle. I volunteer at RDA Ryde. For those that don't know, Riding for the Disabled Association is a centre that provide horse riding classes for people with disabilities. I've been volunteering at the Ryde centre 2018 and have experience around horses: Feeding, mucking, basic grooming. I've house sat for a friend I've made through volunteering, looking after the horses on their property. I understand how to read a horse, what is a safe vs unsafe situation. Most importantly, once I get to know the horse, I give really good belly rubs/forelock.My Services/Abilities
Dogs - I can manage dogs up to 40kgs 💪 I'm vigilant and aware with reactive dogs. I'm not the type to go running with your dog, but I have the energy to play with them and keep them mentally stimulate for hours on end. With working from home, I can give your dogs plenty of play time! (One recurring comment from friends and family is that their dogs are a little sad once I leave, because I loved/played with them too much)Cats/Pocket Pets - I've had experience with indoor and outdoor cats. I know my way around a kitty litter, how frequently to change it, etc. Similarly with rats and other pocket pets, I understand cage/environment maintenance and how frequently to change bedding. Again, working from home means I can provide a warm lap for your cat to sleep on, or plenty hours of attention and play time for your little furry friends!Horses - I am not what you'd call a traditional 'Horse Person'. What I mean is, I don't ride horses. I'm not someone who is personally part of the wider horse commumity, but I have a decent understanding of them. The only other way I can put it is, I'm more farm than dressage. I'm a sensible person, so I won't try any home remedies or call the vet on a whim, but I do have an understanding of 'normal' horse behaviour/health so I can identify if something is going wrong. As stated above, I have experience feeding, grooming (brushing, rugging, hoof check, etc.), and yard maintenance when it comes to horses. My Lifestyle
As stated before, I work from home full time. I mostly respond to emails and take phone calls. This does mean I'm more socially active in the evening. What does an average week look like for me outside of work?
I go to the gym twice a week from 6pm-7pmI meet with friends for game nights 1-2 times a week from 7pm-10pm (at the latest)On Saturdays, I volunteer from 7am-12pmOn the odd occasion I go to the pub for dinner. I have an electric car, so transport to/from your home is easy and I can ensure your pet seeks immediate medical attention if anything happens. At most, I might ask to plug my car in at your home (Depending on the length of the stay, I may not even charge my car at your home). I'm happy to discuss price alterations for house sitting services based on this. If I did charge at your home, it's a few dollars ontop of your regular electricity bill.
I'm a quiet person - I tend to stay home, watch tv, enjoy a nice cup of tea. The worst your neighbours would have to deal with is my average singing ability in the shower. Even in my own home, I'm not one to host many guests - my home is where I like to rest and recharge. The most hosting I do is a rather tame games night of 30yo's once a fortnight or the odd movie night with 1 to 2 friends.
I'm an able bodied person, I'm friendly, I'm respectful of your house rules with your animals. End of the day, I want to provide your pets with a loving, caring, stable environment so they can help feel at ease whilst you can enjoy a holiday, go on work trips, or whatever else you need to do aware from your home.
